Breadcrumbs

Have you ever just sat and thought about your life? Did you ever realize that in order for something to happen, a series of events have to take place before hand in order for that event to occur? Here are some examples…

In order for me to exist, many events had to happen; but I feel there was one key event in history that somewhat determined my existence. You see, my grandpa was a marine stationed on the U.S.S. Indianapolis during WWII. The U.S.S Indianapolis was the ship that delivered the atomic bomb over to Japan. His job was to actually guard the bomb. Although, at the time, no one knew what they were guarding; it was all top secret. 63 years ago tonight at 12:14 a.m., the Indianapolis was on its way back home when a Japanese submarine torpedoed it. The torpedo hit where my grandpa’s sleeping quarters were, but luckily it was really hot that night, so he decided to sleep on deck.

Of the 1,196 men on board, approximately 300 went down with the ship. The remainder, about 900 men (including my grandpa), were left floating in the shark-infested waters with no lifeboats and most with no food or water. By the time the survivors were spotted four days later, only 316 men were still alive. It was and still is the worst naval disaster in U.S. History. Luckily, my grandpa survived. If he hadn’t, my mom would never have been born, so obviously, I wouldn’t have been either.

That is more of a major event, but here is another example…

I have made a lot of new friends through my step-dad’s Public Enemies Blog over the past few months. But in order for that blog to exist, many events had to take place first.

1.) Josh and I had to find a house and move to Columbus. (We did)

2.) My mom and Rod had to follow us and build a house in Columbus as well. (They did)

3.) Michael Mann had to decide to film his movie in our town. (He did)

4.) Rod had to decide to start a blog on the filming. (He did)

If Josh and I hadn’t moved to Columbus, Rod wouldn’t have known where Columbus was or wanted to move here. If he hadn’t moved there, he probably wouldn’t have been as interested in the filming, so he probably wouldn’t have started a blog about it. So then I would never have met all the new friends I have now.

A couple of my new friends, we’ll call them Kris and Louie, helped Josh and I fix our swamp problem in our yard. They also introduced me to Taco Pizza, and Sweeney Todd (which I love).

So if Rod hadn’t started that blog, Josh and I would probably still have a big ‘ol swamp in our yard, never know the joy of taco pizza from Day One, and I would probably never seen Sweeney Todd, which is my absolute fav! – Thanks Kris and Louie!

So now you can all ponder what events had to occur in order for your life to be what it is today :)
