Hello all! How is everyone? I am good. Hopefully this will be the last SUPER LONG post I will write. I am going to try to have more frequent posts rather than writing once a month and jamming all my happenings into one gigantic post. But first I have to get you all up to date.
In early November Josh’s step sister Melissa and her husband Tony had their daughter Jena Lynn baptized at our church. Josh and I are now officially godparents. Jena was pretty good for most of the service, but got a little cranky when the Pastor put water on her head. Josh and I got her a baby ring with her birthstone, along little outfit. It took me forever to decide what outfit I wanted to get her. We must have been in the JCPenney’s baby department for an hour. I love baby shopping so much I couldn’t decide. All the little outfits are so cute.
We finally got our living room and dining room painted. Josh took a day off work and did the whole thing. It looks so homey now! I love it. It is a light sage green and looks real sharp, especially with the white trim.
Thanksgiving was yummy; I think I still have leftovers in the fridge. We went to my Cousin John’s house. We usually have Thanksgiving at my Aunts house, but I think she wanted a break this year. The food was excellent. My cousin’s wife Gina used sour cream in her mashed potatoes instead of milk and they were really good. They got a new doggie named Bella and she is so adorable. She’s a little black mop dog and is very tame. She just kind of lies around and lets people pet her and play with her. She is only 6 months old. After we ate there, we went to my mom’s house to have pie and more leftovers. I ate a little and then I was out! I took a 2 hour nap. I get so tired when my tummy is full. Here is a picture of Bella
The day after Thanksgiving we stayed away from the stores. I helped Josh hang the Christmas lights outside our house. He did most of the work, but I supervised and handed him things that he needed. He did a real good job.
In the afternoon we went bowling with my Mom, Rod, and Rod’s brother. It gave me a chance to try out my new bowling ball Rod got me. It is 2 pounds heavier than my old one, so I can’t whip it as fast. But I’ve found that it doesn’t matter how hard you throw the ball. It’s how you throw it that really matters. I am still able to hit my average so that is good and in some cases I got much better than my average because the extra weight give it more pin action. Someday I hope to have a 180 average. That would be cool.
The Saturday after Thanksgiving we went to Josh’s Aunt Deb’s house, but we were late cuz Josh had to work until 1:30, so there wasn’t a whole lot of food left. But it was still good. We played Bingo, Taboo, and Outburst. He has a really big family on his mom’s side. His aunt lives in the country so there are a lot of wild cats that sleep under the deck and I kept tossing turkey out to them, cuz they looked cold and hungry. They were so cute; I wanted to take them all home. Melissa and Tony were there with Jena so I got to feed her.
Last week my new job description finally went through. Back in May I had volunteered for a temporary secretarial position that was available where I work. I was sort of bored with the work I had been doing, so I thought this would give me a little break. When I started the position, I took a Microsoft Project class because they wanted me to update one of the project plans they were using. Then they needed to revise this other project plan that was kind of screwy. I tried to fix it but then I decided it would be better if we just started over and made a new one. They really liked it the new one I made and decided they wanted to keep me around to work on more project plans. So back in August my boss started writing me a new job description. Well she had never written a job description before, so she had to go back and forth with our HR department trying to get it finalized, but after 4 months it finally went through.
So I am now a Project Planning Analyst. It isn’t a huge promotion. I won’t really be making too much more money, but there are better benefits such as more vacation and a better pension plan. The only real down side is that I will now have to pay for my own health insurance. It is still really cheap compared to most, but when I was hourly they paid for my health insurance. Josh learned that I could join his insurance for free, but we are going to first compare the plans to see which one has better coverage.
Yesterday I did absolutely nothing! It was so nice. It seems we always have something that we need to do or somewhere we need to go. Most of the day I watched TV; I watched part of the Packer game but it was pretty awful. We really suck this year. I felt bad for all of the fans in the stadium freezing to death. I’m glad I wasn’t one of them. I also played a lot of Nintendo.
For dinner we went to Culvers with Josh’s brother. I had a Rib Dinner it came with 4 ribs, a dinner roll, side of coleslaw, and fries which I dipped in ranch dressing. It was very, very good. I love it that they added ribs to their menu, even if it’s just temporary.Above is a picture of my dinner courtesy of culvers.com. I really wish Culvers would have Baked Potatoes. It seems like the only fast food type place around that has them is Wendy’s and even there they aren’t that great. Culvers could have great big ones with onion, bacon, cheese, butter, and sour cream. YUM!!! That would be awesome. By the way, if you haven’t noticed already, I LOVE FOOD! It is amazing that I don’t weigh 400lbs! I have a little note on the wall of my cubicle that says “Eat to Live, don’t Live to Eat” I think I get it from my Dad and my Nana. They love to talk about food. I guess it kind of rubbed off.
Last Friday we got a bunch of snow, so Friday night Josh went out to shovel and Tator and me came out to watch. Tator loves the snow!!!! She kept jumping in it and eating it. She was having a blast it was super funny.
Anyways, Josh took the day off today and painted our stairwell and upstairs hallway. It's a warm beige color and looks real nice. The flooring people came over and measured our living room, dining room, stairs, upstairs bedrooms and hallway. We want to get an estimate for carpeting. If you remember from my previous posts, we currently have painted sub-floor upstairs, painted hardwood in the living room and ugly 70’s linoleum in the dining room. I can’t wait until we get carpet. I house will feel so much warmer and cozy.
Congratulations to anyone who actually made it to the end of this post! You are now up to date on all my current happenings. I will now try to post more frequently so you do not have to endure all this torture of reading a humungous post!
